EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals process distressing experiences, reduce the emotional impact of difficult memories, and develop more adaptive ways of responding. EMDR may be helpful for children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma or other experiences that continue to affect their emotional well-being.
EMDR is based on the understanding that distressing experiences can sometimes become difficult to process and may continue to influence thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical responses. Through a guided therapeutic process, clients work with the therapist to safely access and reprocess these experiences while developing greater emotional regulation and a sense of safety.
Treatment begins with assessment, preparation, and stabilization, allowing clients to develop coping strategies and establish a foundation of safety before beginning trauma processing. The pace of treatment is individualized, and clients remain active participants throughout the process.
EMDR may support concerns related to trauma, anxiety, distressing or intrusive memories, emotional reactivity, grief and loss, difficult life experiences, and other experiences that continue to feel unresolved. The approach can be integrated with other evidence-based interventions and adapted to meet each client’s developmental needs and treatment goals.
This specialty service is well suited for individuals seeking focused support in processing difficult experiences and moving toward greater emotional well-being, resilience, and a sense of safety.
